Li FANG from CHina, ACIC students, 2007 To obtain a Master Degree from a famous Australian university. The Difficulties Li Fang LU first applied to study at the University of Sydney (USYD) through our ACIC Shanghai Office. As her ILETS test result was not good at that time, ACIC advised and helped her obtain a study pathway. This involved first studying English at Embassy but with a provisional offer from USYD. Li Fang came to see our counsellor, Yuan for orientation in the ACIC Li Fang was worried that her IELTS scores would not be able to meet the conditions as set in her provisional offer from USYD. Yuan helped her to apply and get offers from two other universities as backup plan in case she failed to meet the IELTS requirements. On the other hand, Yuan still encouraged her to work hard to achieve the best results. In the end, Li Fang successfully obtained 6.5 in her IELTS test and was able to proceed to study her Master degree in USYD. The OUTcomeSince Li Fang would like to apply for permanent residence after her study, Yuan advised her to lengthen her studies to two years to meet the requirements to apply for PR. Yuan also helped Li Fang to arrange the visa extension. Li Fang has since graduated from USYD with Master of International Business and Master of Commerce (major in Accounting). Her oral English has also improved a lot during her studies at Embassy and USYD. She is now working at an international company, Morgan Stanley, as AP assistant. Her boyfriend, Wei Liu, another student who received help from ACIC, is also working in Morgan Stanley .
