In 2023, despite the increasing number of participating institutions, Western Sydney University was once again honored with the top spot in the overall ranking, marking the second year in a row it has led the chart.

This achievement made it the first Australian university to retain the number one position for two consecutive years. This result is a testament to Western Sydney University’s dedication and passion for teaching, research, and innovation, working alongside students to shape the future.

Western Sydney University ranked in the top ten in nine out of seventeen Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) categories. Notably, it achieved first place in SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), demonstrating its commitment to advancing these critical areas.
