I’m currently overseas and want to study in Australia

Common Questions and Issues

I am a high school student from overseas – should I drop out or complete my high school before coming to Australia? What options are available and is the visa application complicated?

I have completed high school overseas and want to apply for university studies in Australia. Am I qualified for direct entry and are English test scores required (e.g. IELTS)? What happens if my English test results are not high enough?

I am in my early year(s) of post-secondary education from overseas and want to transfer to Australia to continue my study. What are the entry requirements and will my completed subjects be recognised by Australia universities so I can reduce the study duration? I may also plan to migrate to Australia in future – what courses should I consider?

I am in my final year(s) of post-secondary education from overseas (e.g. Bachelor’s degree or diploma). There seem to be many options ranging from vocational courses and PQP to Master’s degrees by Coursework, Master’s degrees by Research and PhDs. What are the differences and how do I choose?

I would like to apply for scholarships. Receiving a scholarship would not only help reduce my family’s financial burden, but also is an advantage for my resume – what are the chances of obtaining a scholarship for international students?

What about my student visa application? What are GTE checks and how should I best prepare for this important task?

What about airport pick-up and accommodation – can ACIC help me settle in Australia?

How ACIC can help

As the entry requirements and application procedures are different for each institution, our expert education consultants can guide you through every step. Based on your situation, we will design the best study options tailored for you.

Australia offers a range of pathway opportunities for students to get into universities regardless of whether you have completed high school OR if you are in your first or final year of a Bachelor’s degree. Our consultants will provide you with the latest course information, saving you from researching, and help you compare courses according to your needs. We will then help you lodge and follow up your school application until enrolment. If scholarships are available, we will let you know and help you apply as well.

However, being granted an offer letter from a school does not guarantee a student visa. One student visa refusal can affect all future visa applications. As such, one of the most important services that we provide is to assist with your student visa application. Our experienced consultants will assist you in preparing all the required visa documentation as well as help you to apply and monitor the progress of your visa application until it is successfully granted.

ACIC’s service continues after your visa is granted. If required, we can help arrange your accommodation and airport pick-up. And after you arrive in Australia, ACIC will designate one of our consultants to follow up with you in regard to your studies and life in Australia. You will receive a free orientation designed to help newly arrived students to settle in Australia and free on-going support should you require any assistance with your studies and future plans.
