CET offers a special English course called Graduate Academic Skills (GAS) that is available to ALL students that have a firm offer from an Australian university and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent. This means you can experience studying at the University of Sydney’s English centre prior to your main studies!

GAS is a 5-week high-level academic skills course that provides an introduction to the expectations and values of academic culture in an Australian university. It is an ideal preparation course for a successful transition to university study in Australia.

What will you learn?

• Develop skills related to academic discussions, university assignment papers, creativity and innovation, critical thinking and collaboration.
• Participate in lectures, tutorials and group activities, including a project assignment that involves exploring Sydney’s suburbs.
• Develop digital competencies necessary for university success, such as collaboration on discussion boards, creation of blogs and video materials, and use of eLearning platforms for project proposals.
• Develop skills in self-reflection, self-assessment and autonomous learning.
